Hoofstock Keeper

Position Type: Full-Time
The Texas Safari Park is a drive-thru safari park located in Kaufman, TX which is about 45 minutes East of Dallas. The Safari Park is rapidly growing and in search of motivated individuals to join our animal care team. This position will mostly care for a variety of hoofstock in our free-range safari. The park maintains a diverse collection of animals including eland, bison, sable antelope, zebra, and many more to come.Currently Seeking:

We strive to provide the best possible experience for our animals, guests, and staff. We currently have multiple hoofstock positions at the Safari Park. You would have the opportunity to care for animals in both a free-range preserve and exhibit setting.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to providing proper animal care through:
- Daily cleaning and maintenance of exhibits.
- Diet preparation and feeding.
- Assist in vet and medical procedures.
- Daily observation of animals including for injuries, breeding, and general healthcare.
- Help with capture, moving, and handling of large hoofstock according to set policies and procedures.
- Administer proper enrichment to various animal species.
- Use large machinery, power tools, and lawn equipment in a safe manner.
- Must be able to communicate and give keeper talks to guests through formal and informal encounters.
Required Qualifications:
- 1-year animal care experience (paid or unpaid)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, stoop, squat, kneel, push, pull, and climb for prolonged periods of time.
- Weekend and holiday availability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Previous large hoofstock experience
- Large domestic hoofed stock (cattle, sheep, horses, etc.)
- Rhino and Giraffe experience
- Experience with large machinery (tractor/skid steer/etc.)
Applicants must possess a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and excellent communication skills. The ability to follow a strict personal dress code and maintain a valid driver’s license is required.
